what to wear

Clothing

Invest time in choosing what to wear - your portrait should show off your personality, flatter and make you feel great.

Smarten up

As a rule of thumb, I recommend that clients wear what they would usually wear to the workplace, and then smarten up by 10%. Clothing should be clean, lint-free and crisply ironed.

Colour

Choose tones to suit your skin and hair. Generally, fair complexions suit natural pastels, and darker skin and hair usually look good in stronger colours. Avoid bold patterns and logos.

Shape

Fitted clothing works best. A shirt and jacket is always a good starting point and can be formal or informal.

Style

Classic clothes won’t date. Keep accessories simple.

Different outfits

For studio sessions, you are welcome to bring a couple of changes of clothes (headshots usually three tops).

Hair, makeup & smile

Hair

Cut your hair at least two weeks before your photo shoot and colour at least a week before. Please bring a comb or hairbrush to the session.

Makeup

Subtle, to enhance your features and bring lipstick or lip salve if you have dry lips.

Your smile

Make sure teeth are sparkling for your portrait session.
