Formal headshots are usually on a plain background and are either tight head and shoulders (to just below your jacket V) or a little more contemporary - the three quarters shot (to mid thigh). The focus should draw people to your eyes and expression, with no distractions.

LIFESTYLE portraits

An environmental portrait can convey so much about your values and vibe to a potential client or employee in seconds. These shots tend to be three quarters or full length to reveal workspace and are carefully crafted to give the right look and feel.

What over a month at sea does to a face.

I photograph the ocean rowers before they set off on their World’s Toughest Row ocean crossings and, again when they reach land after rowing thousands of miles, unassisted, across the wildest seas on earth. Comparing the expressions in their eyes can tell a lot about their journey’s and is a brilliant keepsake for the rowers. Some of them find them hard to face until a few months after they return home.
